As legislatively mandated by An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada must collaborate with Indigenous Peoples to review the provisions and operations of the Act.

Who is the focus of this consultation
Anyone from the public is welcome to submit feedback online, by email or by mail. Indigenous Services Canada is inviting feedback from:
- Indigenous Peoples
- provincial and territorial governments
- service providers
- advocacy organizations
- legal experts
- people with lived experience in child and family services systems
How the information you provide will be used
Any feedback and ideas you provide through this online tool will be considered in the 5-year review of the Act. Your name or personal information will not be attached to your feedback in the final report presented to parliament.
Key questions for discussion
The review will focus on key areas of the Act. However, feedback on any part of the Act or its operation is welcome. Questions in the participant guide are grouped under the following themes:
- purpose of the Act
- provisions of the Act
- scope of Child and Family Services
- funding
We also welcome more detailed technical feedback on topics such as:
- care providers
- significant measures
- compliance with minimum standards
- socio-economic conditions
- substantive equality
- force of federal law
- Indigenous laws in the courts
