Project tracker:
Projected lift date: Fall 2026
Wahpeton Dakota Nation in Saskatchewan is home to approximately 409 people on reserve. The community has completed repairs to the water treatment system and is working to address minor outstanding issues.
There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 75 homes and 4 community buildings:
- A boil water advisory was set on the Wahpeton Public Water System in July 2025 and became long-term in July 2026
The water treatment system is being regularly monitored, and work on the solution to the precautionary drinking water advisory is underway.
Construction timelines have been adjusted due to site conditions following high seasonal rainfall. Work is expected to continue in August 2026, with the repair of the chlorine injector and installation of flushing valves. Once water quality testing confirms the system meets all the necessary standards, the community should be able to lift the advisory.
